How it Began
As I began the process of repurposing these cards, I pondered the best style of art to showcase these unique school records. My art style covers a wide range of styles, but these cards seem to fit the more colorful unique style. So there is not a specific subject matter but more what resonates once I start to draw on the card. The rendering and the background play against each other making it an interesting discovery once you focus on the background over the image, or allowing the art to speak for itself.
Some of these cards date back to 1917, which is truly remarkable. It seems as though they were waiting for me to discover them and give them a new purpose.
Thanks for taking the time to read my first journal entry. I'm excited to document my journey as I start a new business. I want to share my passion for art with people like you. It's a big step for me, but I believe in the value of my work and I'm eager to see where this venture takes me. I hope you'll enjoy following along and maybe even find something that resonates with you. Thank you for your support and for being a part of this new chapter in my life.
As an art teacher, I stumbled upon some old school records and was inspired to repurpose them into something amazing instead of letting them deteriorate in a forgotten room. I thought it would be a fun and creative way to give these permanent record cards a second purpose. It's important to preserve history, and what better way to do that than by turning these old records into something beautiful and new.
